Chapel Tour Mission Partners

May 26, 2009

The Corley FamilyOne of the biggest reasons that I am excited about Chapel Tour this summer is that we are partnering on mission work with two of my oldest friends, Lane and Heather Corley.  Lane and Heather are church planters in south Louisiana and have served faithfully there since 2001.  I have known Lane since college and he and I served at the same church as youth and music ministers, although not at the same time.  Heather and I have known each other since high school and sang in choirs together for over 9 years!  They are a wonderful family who loves the Lord and are excited about what God is doing in South Louisiana.

During our Chapel Tour this summer we are going to spend Monday doing some home repair work during the day and hopefully hosting a block party that evening to generate interest for the Corley’s new church plant.

Here is a summary of the Corley’s mission work and you can read more about their work in their church planting prospectus.  Begin to pray that God will use our group to further his Kingdom in South Louisiana and pray that God will continue to give strength to the Corley’s and continue to meet their needs.

A Church for West St. Tammany

In 2001, God called our family to Covington, Louisiana, to plant a new church in central St. Tammany Parish.  We began with four people in a home Bible study, grew to 75 in an un-air conditioned fire station, moved to a former cafe/truck stop, and seven years later, Hope Church of Waldheim gathers for worship each Sunday in its own building on 16 acres of land, and is faithfully reaching out to its community.  Through church planting many lives have been changed and now a healthy church exists where seven years ago there was none.

Now God has called our family to reach out to a neighboring community through starting another new church.  It is a joy and privilege for us to partner with Bedico Baptist Church, the North Shore Baptist Associations, Louisiana Baptist Convention, and the North American Mission Board to plant a church for West St. Tammany Parish.

Why do we need a new church in West St. Tammany Parish?

  • St. Tammany Parish continues to be one of the fastest growing Parishes in the state of Louisiana.  Currently there are 264,2000 residents.
  • West St. Tammany Parish has grown 55% since 2000.
  • Over 100,000 people are unchurched in St. Tammany Parish.

Our heart is for this church to be  abridge that connects many people to Jesus Christ and His mission to the world.
