New Handbell Ensemble

October 15, 2009

handbellWe are very excited to announce the formation of a new high school handbell ensemble – Ring of the Redeemed!

Because of thecontinued growth in our handbell ministry throughout our church, this fall we had more high school students interested in playing handbells than we had spots to fill.  We decided to begin an additional high school group under the direction of Mark Arnold.  The Lord graciously provided us with a second set of handbells that will allow both the Chapel Bells and Ring of the Redeemed to rehearse at the same time.

Ring of the Redeemed meets every Sunday afternoon at 3:00 p.m. in Room 219.  This group will frequently lead in our worship services, participate in our yearly Christmas handbell festival, and go on tour with our other high school ensembles in the summer.

If you are interested in playing handbells and are in high school, please contact either Lindsey Toledo (Chapel Bells) or Mark Arnold (Ring of the Redeemd) for more information.

The Next Date We Sing

October 15, 2009

The PraiSingers did a fantastic job last week in leading worship with the Chapel Choir.  “Write Your Blessed Name” came off beautifully!  Thanks for your hard work.

Don’t forget that we are singing in a few weeks on November 1, 2009 in all three morning worship services.  You need to make sure that you have the proper outfits: remember that your attire is the first thing that the congregation notices when you walk out on stage.  Guys – dress pants and a shirt with a collar.  Ladies – make sure that the length of your skirts or dresses are appropriate.  Remember – if you have a question about something you want to wear, you probably shouldn’t wear it.

We need everyone at rehearsal every week!  It’s important to have the full ensemble in rehearsal so that we can begin to mesh as a group and grow musically.

Voice Parts

October 15, 2009

Students,

One of the most challenging parts of my job is placing each of you in the correct section.  Even more difficult is remembering your voice part within your section (i.e. Soprano I or II).  Do me a favor and help me out a lot by filling out the form below.  Just let me know what voice part you normally, or which one you would like to sing.

For those of you sing the “middle part” when the women or men divide into three sections, do the following:

  • If you normally sing soprano, then select Soprano II
  • If you normally sing alto, then select Alto I
  • If you normally sing tenor, then select Tenor II
  • If you normally sing bass, then select Bass I

Thanks for your help!
