Both the Chapel Bells and Ring of the Redeemed will rehearse this Sunday, November 8th at their normal times. Even though the middle school and high school choirs will not have rehearsal, it is important that all of our handbell players attend rehearsal. We only have a few rehearsals left before Christmas. We will have a yummy treat for you after rehearsal!

This past Saturday, April 3, the Chapel Bells traveled to Richardson, Texas to participate in the annual Greater Dallas Handbell Association Festival. The students joined nearly twenty other handbell choirs from around the metroplex in working with an outstanding clinician and presented a concert that afternoon. Great job Chapel Bell ringers!

Day 5: Mission Work and Concert
July 16, 2008
Day 5 of the Rocky Mountain Tour was filled with a lot of hard work, fun, and great singing. This morning our students loaded up the bus and headed to the Ponderosa Retreat Center south of Denver. The retreat center is sponsored by the Denver Baptist Association and hosts summer camps and other retreats all year long. Our students spent a lot of their time there picking up trash and cleaning the various recreation areas and hiking trails. Once again our students did an excellent job of serving and working hard.
After lunch we returned back to the hotel and prepared for our evening program. Our students led in worship and Mississippi Avenue Baptist Church tonight and did a fantastic job! We performed our entire program for the final time while on tour. This was their best concert and they communicated the message of their music in an excellent way. Our group has made so much musical progress while on tour and we are excited about the opportunity to share it with the church this Sunday evening at our Student Music Home Concert.
When we arrived back at our hotel, the annual Bus Beau and Beauty Pageant was held. This year’s winners were the Soggy Bottom Boys and Maddie’s Dance Party. It was a lot of fun as usual and our students spent the rest of the evening playing cards, games and visiting with each other. Tomorrow we will head to the Colorado River for a day of whitewater rafting.

Day 4: Mission Work in Denver
July 15, 2008
This morning our students got a little treat by being able to sleep in, but once we hit the road at 9:00 a.m. we had a full day ahead of us. We traveled to the Salvation Army Silvercrest Residence Center where our students performed a wide variety of tasks. As you can see from pictures below, our students served meals, cleaned, weeded gardens, and shared in music with the residents there. Our students did a tremendous job in serving and interacting with the senior adults at this location. It is such a blessing to have such conscientious students who love the Lord and are willing to go the extra mile in serving.
After a few hours of down time at the hotel, we then traveled into downtown Denver where we led in a chapel service at the Denver Rescue Mission. This nightly chapel service is part of the requirements for those homeless men who will stay the evening at the shelter. The crowd was very enthusiastic and encouraged the students to give their absolute best. Our program there was the highlight of the tour for many of our students.
On our way home, we ate dinner at Gunther Toody’s, a 50’s styled diner. The food was great and our students had a great time singing, dancing, and playing around. We arrived back at the hotel around 9:30, had our sponsor-led devotions, and hit the sack.
Tomorrow we will travel south of dinner to work at a Baptist retreat center and then share our music with Mississippi Avenue Baptist Church. Please continue to pray for the safety and unity of our group.

Day 3: Clovis to Denver
July 14, 2008
Today was a pretty uneventful day as far as typical choir tours go. We left our hotel this morning and hit the road for Denver about 9:00 a.m. Tony Richmond led us in a devotion talking about “making much of Christ in our lives.” He encouraged us to creatively find ways to magnify God in all we do…from the big things to the little things.
We had a 7 1/2 hour drive today with a stop for lunch in Raton, New Mexico. We arrived in Denver about 6:00 p.m. local time and then spent the evening at a local mall for dinner and some down time. Tomorrow morning we will head to an area senior adult center where we will do mission work, serve a meal, and present a concert. Tomorrow evening we will lead in a chapel service at the Denver Rescue Mission.
Check back tomorrow for pictures from the past few days. We haven’t had much time to upload them, but they should be up by tomorrow afternoon.
Continue to pray for us when you think about it. Some areas you can pray for are our safety as we travel, the unity of our group, the health of the students and sponsors, and for the people with whom we will share our music.
