Day Four: Schlitterbahn and Back to Keller

June 24, 2008

After a great weekend of missions and performing, Monday was a day for playing at Schlitterbahn water park in New Braunfels. The day included 6 hours for fun at the water park before the final ride home. Believe it or not all of the group used sunscreen and most avoided getting sunburned. We arrived safely back at FBC Keller around 9:45pm, after a stop in Waco for dinner.

Day Three: Martindale Baptist Church/Northeast Baptist Church

June 22, 2008

Today, our groups led worship for two morning services at Martindale Baptist Church and for the evening service at Northeast Baptist in San Antonio.  The kids did a super job at both churches, and their ministry was very much appreciated.  After the evening devotional and spades games, the sponsors have compiled the following Top Ten list of “Things We’ve Heard On Tour”.  If you have trouble figuring out what they mean, check with your student…

10. “Can I brush my teeth after breakfast?”
9. “Charles - Pablo - William”
8. “How do you start a conversation?”
7. “I heard a rumor that we’re singing again” (after travelling to another church…)
6. “I forgot to bring jeans”
5. (in a high voice) “ooh - a spider” (changing to a low voice) “I mean ooh, a spider”
4. “Nancy”
3. “I have a question…”
2. “Sorrry…”
and the number one thing we heard on tour (because we kept saying it):
1. “Have you READ your tour book???”

Day Two: San Antonio

June 21, 2008

Today was a busy day for the PraiSingers and PraisRingers.  We started the day by getting messy - painting and doing yard work for Medical City Baptist Church.  This church, in San Antonio’s Medical District, has four different congregations worshiping in as many different languages.  We re-striped curbs and sidewalks, mowed and edged the lawn, trimmed shrubs, and even painted the sign in front of the church.  Check out the pictures of our work (see link below)!

After a quick shower and change of clothes, we headed for “The Waterford”, a nearby retirement community.  Our kids played and sang for the residents, then spent some time visiting with them and enjoying lemonade and fresh baked sugar cookies.  That was enough fuel to sustain us until we got back to the motel for lunch.  After devouring pizza, we headed to Martindale, where we set up and rehearsed for tomorrow’s services.  We finished the day with a trip to North Star Mall, in case anyone had money left for shopping.  We’ll have an early start tomorrow - the vans pull out at 7 o’clock sharp!

Day One: From Keller to San Antonio

June 20, 2008

The drive from Keller to San Antonio went well and we made it safely to the hotel around 5pm.  But no rest for the weary, Miss Patty had us off to eat around 5:30pm and then off to the River Walk by 6:45pm.  We drove around looking for a parking garage for our 7 foot 6 inch tall vans, but had to settle for an outdoor parking lot instead.  We spent the evening enjoying the sites of the River Walk and made it safely back to the hotel.

We took a few pictures today and here is the link to Tune My Heart Tour 2008.
